The First Events After a Crash or Injury:

Although you were just injured, it is always a good idea for you or a loved one to chronicle the facts surrounding the injury as quickly and thoroughly as possible. Although you may remember everything in vivid detail at present, time quickly takes its toll, even on traumatic events such as this. The two questions to keep in mind as you chronicle the injury are “what happened to cause my injury” and “how was i injured.”

What Happened to Cause My Injury?

In many cases it is impossible to remember exactly what caused your injury because of the surrounding trauma. However, if you can remember anything at all, even if it seems insignificant, now is the time to write it down.

How was I Injured?

Immediately following the injury, you may not be able to evaluate the extent of your injuries. Asking a friend or family member may help you better chronicle these critical early stages. As you continue to progress, it is important to keep track of the treatments and how you are affected by both the treatments and the injuries. How does it affect your normal life, your work life, your personal life, etc.

What Else Do I Need to do Following an Injury?

Preserve Evidence - If you have anything at all in your possession that may be related to your injury, however small, please keep that item in a safe place for future use. For example, photographs, any damaged property of any kind, videos, packaging, any anything else related to your injury, no matter how seemingly insignificant

Contact a Lawyer - to help preserve your rights and help you fully recover from your injuries.
